Posavina Canton is the smallest canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with an area of only 325 km2.
This canton sits next to the Sava river, which is a natural border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The main town is Orasje and it is spread across an area of 125 km2. It is the only town among 13 rural municipalities in the canton. Earliest references date to as early as the 12th century as "Terra Tolys".
This area is very flat with excellent quality land and great potential for agriculture. Agriculture is the most important industry. In 1904 the first agricultural association in Bosnia and Herzegovina was established in Orasje.
In this area is one of the most frequented border crossing between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union - Republic of Croatia.
