Entrepreneurship and monasteries

The Moravica District is located in the central part of Serbia. It covers an area of 3,016 km2. It is comprised of 4 municipalities: Cacak (the main city), Gornji Milanovac, Ivanjica and Lucani.

This area is rich with Serbian orthodox monasteries from the medieval time. The most impressive are 10 concentrated in the Ovcar Kablar Gorge.

Cacak is also the educational center of the area with one of the oldest high schools in the country and with two modern faculties which are part of the larger University of Kragujevac.

Traditionally, this area was dominated by industrial production and huge factories. Their very early collapse helped the region boost entrepreneurship. Today, this is the home of numerous small companies but also some larger firms developed in recent years.
